This year’s conference will be held at the Universidade de Coimbra (the University of Coimbra) a public university in Coimbra, Portugal which was founded in 1290 making it one of the oldest universities in the world, and the oldest in all of Portugal. Until the 20th century, it was the only Portuguese-speaking university in the world. In keeping with its history, the university emphasizes tradition, along with its focus on modernity and innovation. The University of Coimbra is a popular target for science and technology students, having the largest science faculty in Portugal. It is a university that’s educating the world, with international students comprising about 10% of its student population. The incredible campus is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Did You Know: The famous tower at the University of Coimbra was built in 1728, and has four bells. This tower has been affectionately referred to by the University community as the “Cabra” (the Goat).
